Personal Development, Spirituality & Psychedelics

A Few Things I’ve Been Doing Lately

October 15, 2016 By Aaron 4 Comments

Here are a couple things I’ve been doing which you may also want to do.

Barefoot shoes

Movement culture. Friends introduced me. It makes sense – I’m still a newbie. First I got some Xeros – barefoot sandals, “gladiators”. They took some getting used to but they’re great. I got some Vivos also. Also great. They look good, they’re comfortable, they’re good for your body. Improve your posture, move more, feel the ground under your feet. It feels right.

Stretching & Mobility

Opening up the joints. Full ROM. Flexibility all around. I replaced lifting with yoga and a little gymnastics training. I squat often and try not to sit in chairs. I like it so far. Less pain, less soreness, less discomfort. More flow. Open your body up. (There’s emotion trapped in there.)

Sleeping on the floor

I moved into a new apartment and the mattress was too soft. It made my back hurt and muscles tight. I listened to Katy Bowman on the Joe Rogan podcast. More movement culture. For the past 1.5 months I’ve been sleeping on a duvet on a yoga mat on the floor. My back feels good. My muscles feel good. My body feels better in the morning. Try it out.

Longer and longer fasts

18, 20 hours. Maybe more. Try eating all your food within a two hour window. It’s amazing how much time you have in a day when you don’t spend *any* of it eating. You’ll have more energy; get leaner. You can use caffeine to prolong fasts. BCAAs are also good. Slowly work up – 12, 14, 16 hours. Then 18+. Good things will happen.

Vegetables

I already wrote a post about this. I’ve been eating shitloads of vegetables. It feels really good. I would recommend it. Make 50% of your food volume for the day vegetables. Cooked or raw, both are great. Mix it up. Do it for a week. You’ll feel incredible.

Spotify

This is nothing new. It’s just new for me. I never used to listen to music. Then I did when working out. Then when working. Now I listen to it a lot. You don’t need to know artists, genres, songs. Just pick a playlist and Spotify does it all for you. Work, exercise, chill, party, anything you want. It’s great.

Hopefully that’s useful. Experiment and see what works. Good luck!
