Update: Self Improvement in Practice is now available on Amazon
I’ve written most of a book that will be coming out soon – it’s called Self Improvement in Practice and will be available within the next 1-2 months.
The idea for the book came about in a intense moment of gratitude for my life – where I realized that pretty much everything good in my experience has come from a focus on self improvement.
Freedom to travel, online income, physical health and fitness, fun with girls and good relationships, high quality friends, freedom of expression, building a website, self-confidence, self-knowledge, self-acceptance – all of it.
And while it might be a cliche to say “I can help you do the same” – I really think I can.
This book is a structured, organized iteration of that effort – the same transfer of knowledge and experience that this site has been so far.
The first part of Self Improvement in Practice is a program to follow, with one practice per day for 21 days.
These are a mix of mental, physical and spiritual practices designed to optimize output, productivity, help you reach your goals and live in alignment with your purpose – while also staying happy/in a good mood at the same time.
These are all practices I have used consistently at some point or still do today and that have served me very well.
Practices include:
- Breathing and grounding exercises to get you into your body
- Courage: what it really is at its core, and how you can use it to turn fear into confidence in minutes or even seconds
- How to use visualization to let go of past mistakes, forgive yourself for former failures and move forward now
- A simple mindset shift that can help you discover your “purpose” in life – even if you have no idea what that looks like right now
- How to declutter your brain, clear out mental space and free up your mind to focus on what’s really important (This is Day 2)
- An often-overlooked “chill” perspective that, once you adopt it, gets you MORE results with less effort (This is actually something I try to remind myself of every single day)
- The ultimate “death habit” that brings LIFE to your experience – formerly used by samurai warriors before battle in ancient Japan
- A quick and easy technique to make all your daily interactions go way, WAY better – and all you have to do is practice a few times in the mirror
- Cold therapy, Walking Meditation, “the serious trap” and more…
The second part of the book builds on this and is a step-by-step guide to creating your own self improvement practice, based on what you’ve learned from the first 21 days.
This second section will set you up with a positive, personalized program so you know exactly what to do moving forward on your path and continue to serve you well into the future.
Self Improvement in Practice is not a long book and it’s not particularly information-heavy either – each practice is explained clearly but there is not a lot of background theory and there is NO ‘fluff’.
(It annoys the hell out of me when you buy a 300 page book, read half and then realize the entire thing could fit in 20 pages…)
The concepts in SIIP are straightforward and explained just as much as they need to be, not more. This is mostly because the concepts are most truly and deeply understood by putting them into action.
I recently sent the program to a friend of mine to try out – this guy is a WFBB pro fitness competitor with his own training business – here’s what he had to say:
As someone who is always pushing to be better this book is perfect for me. Each day is a new exercise that expands my awareness and gets me to push my comfort zones, slow down and appreciate the moment, and find ways to be more present in my daily life. Your book was exactly what I needed and it lines up with my belief that every day you need to find a way to take one more step forward – I’d recommend it to anyone.
Real self improvement comes about by doing things much more so than reading about them – that’s the place this book is coming from and it’s the place from which I hope it will be received as well.
This book has been a long time coming, I know these practices are massively helpful and I am excited to share it with you guys.
